WHY WE WERE FOUNDED

Filling a real gap in the Maldivian market.

Maldivian businesses have historically struggled to access structured capital raising support. Most financial services were bank-led, leaving limited options for businesses seeking equity, bonds, or complex financing without taking on traditional debt.
Investors faced a similar challenge — few structured, professionally managed investment vehicles existed to deploy capital into the local economy. Rausmal was founded to bridge both gaps: as an independent adviser for businesses, and as a regulated fund manager for investors.

OVERVIEW

Co-Founder and Chairman of Rausmal Corporation. A seasoned finance professional with expertise spanning banking, capital markets, government, and data science.

BACKGROUND
Hameed’s career began in the Maldivian banking sector, where he built a strong foundation in financial services before spearheading significant reforms at the Maldives Stock Exchange — including easing listing requirements and facilitating the country’s first bond issuance. Serving in the President’s Office under the Maldives’ first democratically elected government, he played a pivotal role in tax reform, privatisation, and fiscal stabilisation during the global financial crisis. He subsequently held data specialist roles at the University of Nottingham Malaysia and the Asia School of Business, and has consulted for government and corporate clients through Strat369 in Malaysia and dSilo, a New York-based AI startup.

Co-Founder and CEO of Rausmal Corporation. A Chartered Accountant and Risk Professional with over 12 years of experience across accounting, treasury, and enterprise risk management.

BACKGROUND

Maadhin is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA, UK) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (ICAM). His experience includes senior leadership roles in the insurance industry, where he established enterprise risk management frameworks aligned with COSO and ISO 31000 standards, as well as Financial Planning and Analysis work at a leading telecom company focused on financial performance and strategic planning. He is designated as a Technical Specialist at the Institute of Risk Management (IRM, UK) and is progressing towards the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation from GARP (USA).

He subsequently served as Chief Financial Officer of the Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), overseeing institutional finance, treasury, and balance sheet management.

His expertise spans Islamic finance jurisprudence, Shariah compliance frameworks, and the application of Islamic law to contemporary financial instruments.
